RBANS Performance Validity Scorer

Important Interpretation Note

Embedded validity indicators in the RBANS (such as the PVI, Effort Index, and Effort Scale) provide useful screening tools but should be interpreted cautiously. Sensitivity and specificity vary significantly depending on the clinical population and methodological factors.

Age Range Considerations:
The RBANS Performance Validity Index (PVI) and CRIER were validated primarily in older adult populations (memory disorder clinics). The Effort Index (EI) and Effort Scale (ES) included more middle-aged adults but remain insufficiently validated in adolescents and young adults under 25 years. Caution should be exercised when interpreting results in younger clients.

No embedded measure should be relied upon in isolation to determine credibility. Use clinical judgment, converging evidence, and context when interpreting these results.
