Good Practice Made Easy
Helpful to know: This site is built for trained professionals. Many answers below summarise our Terms of Use & Privacy.

General

What happens to my data?

All tools run entirely in your browser. That means inputs you enter (e.g., scores, notes) are processed locally and are not sent to our servers. We do not receive, collect or store the client data you enter.

  • Login is handled via Firebase Authentication; we retain only your registration details needed for access control.

See Terms of Use & Privacy for full details and responsibilities.

Who can use Neuropsychology.tools?

The site is intended for registered health professionals, clinical researchers, and neuropsychology trainees with appropriate training.

You can sign up on the Homepage. Access is individually approved (please don’t share logins).

Are the outputs guaranteed to be correct?

We aim for accuracy and transparency, using published methods where possible. However, all tools are provided “as is”. You are responsible for verifying outputs and applying clinical judgement before using them in clinical, legal, or research contexts.

Full disclaimer in the Terms.

Requests & New Tools

Can you create a tool that lets me score my favourite neuropsychological test?

Sometimes — but with care. We strive to respect the intellectual property and incomes of test publishers and developers. If a scoring method is proprietary or a publisher already offers an official electronic scorer, we’ll usually decline to replicate it.

We’re happy to discuss compliant alternatives, such as:

  • Generalised calculators based on public methods (e.g., confidence intervals, RCIs) without reproducing proprietary norms.
  • Visualisation or reporting layers that work from scores you’ve already computed using official tools.
  • Training/learning aids that explain methods without embedding restricted IP.

Propose a request with details and we’ll take a look.

How about online administration of my favourite questionnaire?

Online administration raises additional IP, licensing, and ethical considerations. We currently only host questionnaires where they are copyright free or available on a 'Creative Commons' license and/or we have the publisher's permission. We will not produce a competing version of an existing digital test where one already exists.

What’s your stance on copyright and test publishers?

We hugely value our test developers and publishers — the tests literally wouldn’t exist without them. We do our best to avoid creating or sharing tools that could undermine their intellectual property or income, including duplicating official electronic scoring systems or reproducing protected test content.

When in doubt, we’ll err on the side of caution and seek permission or suggest an alternative approach.

Accounts & Access

How is access approved?

Access is manual and on a case-by-case basis to ensure appropriate use by qualified users. Please allow time for verification. You’ll be notified when approved.

I’m having trouble logging in — what should I do?

First, try a password reset from the login screen. If issues persist, email support with:

  • Your registered email address
  • A brief description (and, if possible, a screenshot) of the error
  • Your browser and OS

Legal & Use

Can I rely on this site in medico-legal reports?

Use your clinical judgement and verify all outputs. Tools are aids, not a substitute for professional decision-making. If citing, reference the underlying statistical method and note that calculations were performed using Neuropsychology.tools.

Which law applies to the site?

Our Terms specify that New Zealand law governs the site and that New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes.

How should I cite the site or a method?

We recommend citing the statistical method and then the site, for example: Chelune (1993) method, calculation by Neuropsychology.tools. Where relevant, include the specific version/date accessed.
